Colours have always had smells and texture for me because I was born with autism and sensory synesthesia. Letters, numbers, sounds and people can trigger vivid colour sensations, and my paintings demonstrate what I see and feel around my subject. Eyes of a human trigger many concurrent senses and so my portraits enable me to enjoy the power of the eyes without needing to turn away and close mine.
